Tommy the Rock Musical with music by THE WHO

I've been busy rehearsing for Tommy at TUTS. Here's an article on SugarlandMom.com

Fort Bend Student to Perform at Zilkha Hall Sept. 10-11

Area resident Sean Hardin will appear in Theatre Under The Stars’ (TUTS) and Humphreys School of Musical Theatre’s production of a young boy’s passage from pain to triumph in the electrifying musical, The Who’s Tommy, based on the 1969 rock opera album Tommy by Pete Townshend.
This presentation, with an all-teen cast of students from Theatre Under The Stars’ Humphreys School of Musical Theatre (HSMT), will feature songs like “Sensation” and “Amazing Journey,” Sept. 10-11, at Zilkha Hall.

Broadway veteran and original The Who’s Tommy cast member, Michael Tapley, directs the show.

Sean Hardin is a 14-year-old student at George Ranch High School. He was last seen at TUTS in the southwest regional premiere of 13 - The Musical as “Archie.” When he is not on stage, Sean works on many volunteer projects to help others. In March, he hosted a benefit concert for Compassion International Haiti Earthquake Relief and raised over $4,000. Sean also recorded an original song titled “Alive” as a part of the Stop Drunk Driving Now campaign for kids.

Sean's mom, Sheri Hardin, said Sean plays the part of The Lover in the TUTS show. Tommy's father and The Lover get in a fight and The Lover is killed, which traumatizes Tommy. Since Sean dies early on, he then becomes part of the ensemble. Sean "loves the music in the show and has learned to play Pinball Wizard on the guitar," Sheri said.

After the TUTS show, Sean will play Robin Hood at the Fort Bend Theatre the first two weekends of October. (He is splitting the role with Giulio Riccio, who will be Robin Hood for the first two weekends of the production.) See our Events Around Town page for information about Robin Hood.
